Yep, this is the big announcement I’ve been mentioning – just as we mark our one year anniversary in London we’re packing up again and moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! We might as well balance things out by doing the other side of the world right?!? Joe was offered a new opportunity with his company and we simply couldn’t pass up the chance to live in and explore South East Asia. It sadly cuts our time in the UK short by a year but we’ve got to take things as they come and trust that we’ll have just as much fun creating a new home there as we did here.
The move is going to happen very quick. I’m talking the first week of May quick – eekk! Between squeezing in trips to Brussels and Paris (we need to leave our mark), visiting KL to look for an apartment, wrapping up work projects, and all of the moving stuff to do in London, it’s going to be a crazy couple of weeks. For that reason I won’t be blogging next week but I will be prepping a big moving sale for the shop and will have bits to share from the trip to KL the following week.
There’s so much to personally reflect on and anticipate but that will have to wait for a later post – I need to get through a very long to-do list first! If any of you live in or have traveled in that part of the world I’d love to hear about your experiences, tips, and words of wisdom. I’ve never been so my eyes and ears are wide open!

Oh my goodness! This was certainly not the big announcement I was expecting, but this is so exciting for the both of you. I must admit, I’ll selfishly miss your living in London, since I enjoyed living vicariously through your London/European adventures and reminiscing on my (brief) time there. But ultimately, that doesn’t matter at all, because this sounds like a wonderful, exciting opportunity, for many reasons. Congratulations on the move and on taking this (cross-continental) step! And best of luck on the turnaround. I can’t wait to hear more about your new digs!
AM! Gosh, can’t believe I haven’t met up with you, my fellow SoCal-Londoner, since our cloak-making course. You’ve been on my mind… and I guess this might be the perfect time to meet as my husband was born and raised in KL!! Incredible city with a fusion of cultures, fabulous foods and full of dichotomy! I’d love to catch up and have the Mr. share some thoughts and answer any questions you have… and also give you a list of fam/friends in KL that we’d be happy to put you in touch with… Good times to come!! xx
WOW! That is incredibly big news! What does Joe do for work? Sounds like such a great adventure to have together. :) Enjoy your last month in London and the new chapter in KL.
Wow! That’s amazing! What does Joe do for a living? Wish my job was as exotic! Good luck with the move!….and actually, how does one move from London to Malaysia? I’d love to know what details go into moving out of a country!
wow, such EXCITING NEWS! This is my first time reading your blog yet I still think this is incredibly exciting. I live just outside of London so can imagine how thrilling it must be to know you’ll be moving to Asia really soon! Good luck with everything and I’m glad I found your blog it’s so lovely. I’ll be back for sure to hear all about Malaysia – a place I’ve never been but always wanted to go to so I shall live vicariously through your blog!

Hello Anamu. Indeed what news!! Have been meaning to reply on many of your delightful posts and today is just right. I discovered your blog a few months back via “SF girl by bay” and it has been such a treat to follow your adventure, top inspirational tips and of course your beautiful photographs. Just had to say thanks for sharing and that it has been so cool to have such vicarious moments! I too am a LA native, from Manhattan Beach. And your California-ness speaks directly to me (I can get very homesick!). I have also lived in London for three years before setting off to Singapore where I am now. The parallels! Only I am a decade ahead of you with a small family (3 fabulous children and 1 darling british husband)! I don’t blog but I am a photographer by trade and so far have only managed to fb my own adventure. I wish you all the best on your upcoming move to KL. There is a lot to discover over here and I’m sure you will find it interesting and amazing as adventure goes. I look forward to reading the next chapter. Best of luck!

That is SO super exciting. Congratulations to you both on the move and good luck with the prep!
Congrats!! I just stopped by your shop for the first time and adore it. Good luck with prep, moving and everything else.
Wow, Ana! How incredibly cool! I’ve never been to Malaysia (or anywhere near it for that matter) so I can’t wait to experience it here.
Congratulations on this new phase in your life!
